Ribbons of Steel 

Layered sheets of weathered steel fold and curve like a giant metallic ribbon frozen mid-motion. Broad, sweeping planes intersect at unexpected angles, creating deep, dramatic shadows that emphasize the sculpture-like quality of the structure. Rivets and seams trace irregular lines across the surface, their texture lending an industrial tactility against the smooth expanses of patinated metal. Light skims the high points, producing sharp highlights that contrast with velvety pockets of darkness where forms recede. The composition reads as abstract architecture — simultaneously chaotic and precisely composed — a dynamic interplay of mass, void, and movement that embodies Gehry’s sculptural use of steel.
